The '''MultiMode 3''' Modchip is a modchip compatible with almost all Playstation and PSone consoles. It is usually a set of RAM addresses programed on a PIC12C508 Microchip, which is 8 pins and about the size of an adult fingernail. Usually coming in three different variations, each for every format of Playstation (PAL, NTSC, and JAP). Installation of this modchip for each Playstation is different, especially the difference between the Playstation and PSone.

The''' MultiMode 3''' Modchip is a modchip compatible with almost all Playstation and PSone consoles.
Installation of the MM3 modchip will require you to solder 7 or 8 wires directly to the motherboard. In general, older models of the Playstation are easier to mod since newer models (SCPH9001,PSOne) require you to solder onto surface-mount capacitors, which can become dislodged when attempting to solder to them, more than likely causing irreparable damage. Furthermore, the contact point for the wire is small on those capacitors, meaning the wire can easily be broken off.

The MM3 can be found on [http://www.eurasia.nu/shop/ EurAsia] for $4 + ~$5 shipping. Diagrams detailing the soldering points on each version of the Playstation can be found there as well.
